ZEV launched its range of British Manufactured EV Charging Cables in 2021.
The goal was to support businesses and individual drivers to transition to electric powered transport and to further reduce their carbon footprint by providing a product that had not travelled the world to reach them and equally didn’t require excessive packaging resulting in an overall greener yet competitively priced product.
We currently produce two colours which following substantial research were chosen to meet the requirements of both drivers & businesses looking for a discreet product, and also as a high-contrasting product to aid those that are visually impaired to negotiate the increase in street furniture. We can however produce any cable colour to meet corporate branding requirements.
Although we price a standard set of lengths, we can produce any length or specification should you or your customer have a particular requirement. We can also offer a branded option. We also offer a tethered option for charge point manufacturers and for replacing for damaged cables or extended lengths.

Our range of charging cables is made to a superior specification right here in the UK, they include both single and three phase, in either a straight, coiled (which generally sit above the ground) or combination cable depending on requirement.
We produce all our cable with the expectation that it will be coiled, to support this we use a higher volume together with a finer specification of copper stranding within the cores. We also twist the cores together prior to sheathing which enables the finished cable to be twisted and bent to a much higher degree making it much more resistant to strain and twisting damage than standard straight laid cable. The bend radius on the single phase cable is 25.00 mm – which is extremely flexible.
Once the main cores are assembled, a process known as "extrusion" takes place to ensure the cables are of the highest quality and will provide reliable charging, many manufacturers opt for the cheaper and less reliable method (but sometimes aesthetically more pleasing) of tube extrusion, but our cables are assembled using the superior method of pressure extrusion.
Pressure extrusion forces molten plastic directly onto the conductors, creating a tighter bond, stronger adhesion, better core retention, and less risk of water ingress. It also provides a more thorough solution filling the smallest of gaps improving mechanical strength and durability.
In contrast, Tube extrusion may offer slightly better uniformity, but it can result in a looser fit, weaker adhesion, reduced core retention, and less effective protection in tougher service conditions.
Pressure extrusion may occasionally show minor bumps or blemishes on the cable surface, but these are cosmetic only and do not affect the working performance of the cable, overall providing a more robust and reliable long-term product.

Our single phase charging cables are available in multiple configurations

Our single phase, straight cable is our most popular cable. Available with either Type2 or Type1 connectors it is made using high quality materials, manufactured to a high specification and designed to be robust and long lasting.

Coiled cable gives the advantage of sitting above the ground, reducing the trip hazard and keeping the cable out of the dirt. It is easy to handle and provides a tidy solution for EV charging.

Our tethered cables can be made to any length, and can be straight, coiled or a combination to give maximum reach with easy handling.

Our 3Phase cables offer fast AC charging up to 22kW and are available in multiple configurations

ZEV offers 3Phase EV charging cable for vehicles capable of charging up to 22kW AC. Our cables are lightweight for easy handling.

Our 3Phase EV charging cable also comes as a coiled option to make handling even easier whilst still enable the cable to reach up to 20M between charge point and vehicle.

ZEV 3Phase cables are also available as a tethered option to ensure 22kW charge points that require a replacement cable or a longer length, can continue operation without the need for costly replacement.
